Professional Experience:

Mr. Silberman has over twenty-three years experience providing technical expertise, management support, and business development in the energy and environmental fields.

Currently, Mr. Silberman is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Eastern Region for Healthy Buildings International Inc. (HBI) based in Fairfax, Virginia. HBI is an environmental consulting firm specializing in the field of indoor pollution in commercial buildings. To date, they are the most experienced private firm in the world in the area of onsite indoor air quality investigations, having conducted inspections in over 4,000 major buildings for more than 650 clients in 45 countries worldwide. HBI has also pioneered the concept of proactive indoor air quality monitoring programs, which are utilized by scores of commercial real estate firms around the country as both a technical and business tool. Mr. Silberman provides leadership and direction with regard to all activities of the company in accordance with the goals and objectives of the organization. For the eastern region specifically Mr. Silberman spearheads all the effort involving business development, management, personnel, compliance and finance.

Prior to his position, Mr. Silberman was HBI’s Manager of Business Development for fifteen years. His responsibilities included: business development, public speaking, technical writing, and field support. Mr. Silberman was also Managing Editor of HBI’s company newsletter, The Building Insider.

For two years Mr. Silberman was a Service Sales Representative for Honeywell Inc. in McLean, Virginia. Within the building Services Division, his responsibilities included sales of energy control systems and mechanical maintenance contracts to building owners and managers of commercial buildings. For over five years Mr. Silberman was a technical analyst for Science Applications International Corporation in McLean, Virginia. Working in the Energy Services Department, he provided technical support and expertise on various contracts for the U.S. EPA, U.S. DOE, and public utilities.

Responsibilities included computer programming, data analysis, feasibility studies, economic analysis, and energy modeling.

Mr. Silberman is currently the Instructor of a course titled “Environmental Health and Safety Issues” [in buildings]. This course, produce by the Building Owners & Managers Institute (BOMI), is a required course for the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation earned by property managers through the Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA). Mr. Silberman is a past Chairman of the Healthy Buildings Committee for the Architectural Engineering Institute, as well as a past Editor of the official newsletter of the Washington D.C. chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, an organization in which he continues to be a member.
