| IAQ on GSA Schedules: The Public Building Service (PBS) of the GSA is the owner/operator of the largest real estate inventory in the United States. The stated goal of the PBS is to be recognized as the best public real estate organization in the world. What better way to support that goal than to maximize the quality of the interior environment where federal employees spend a majority of their time?
| To appreciate the enormous potential available by optimizing indoor air quality, consider the following. The GSA, in concert with the International Facility managers Association (IFMA) developed a standardized questionnaire to measure the satisfaction with and the importance of 50 services or building features to PBS customers.
Over the last few years, using this questionnaire the PBS learned that thousands of GSA staff are extremely unhappy with the indoor air quality in their offices.
Indeed, their rating of indoor air quality yielded the lowest score in the customer satisfaction surveys.

HBI’s Proactive IAQ Program: Fortunately, this is one area where dramatic improvement can be realized. A well- documented example of the value of HBI’s Proactive IAQ Program is shown on the left. Now the improvements in occupant satisfaction enjoyed in commercial client buildings can be replicated in GSA buildings.
The result is improved comfort and well-being of the occupants, increased productivity, improved Customer Satisfaction Scores, and in some cases performance bonuses for building management.
